Welcome from Director-General Nika Arzoumanian
Dear Faculty, Delegates, Parents, and Guests:
Welcome to NHSMUN 2017! My name is Nika Arzoumanian, and I am the Director-General of NHSMUN 2017. As we move through the planning stages of the conference, the NHSMUN Senior Staff and IMUNA Board of Directors are already seeing the exciting opportunities and immense benefits of the conference’s new two-session model. We could not be more thrilled to share our unparalleled substantive program with our new and returning delegates this year.
As we gear up to run our best conference yet, NHSMUN continues to be deeply committed, first and foremost, to providing the best educational experience for our attendees. Over the upcoming months, our exceptional and passionate staff will develop our well-researched Background Guides, Update Papers, and a country profile database. Our Senior Staff team will work with our Directors and Assistant Directors to ensure a consistent and excellent experience for every delegate and faculty advisor. NHSMUN's focus on collaboration and education combined with a reduced emphasis on competition creates an unmatched learning environment for our delegates. Regardless of committee placement, delegates will be challenged to provide targeted and sustainable solutions through cooperation, enriching debate, and thorough research.
I am very excited to announce that we are returning two excellent committees to NHSMUN 2017, the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)! In addition, we will also be expanding our specialized offerings, running three continuing crisis committees for the first time: the League of Arab States, Present Day Crisis, and a newly developed Historic Crisis committee. We will also be keeping some of our most popular offerings: the UN Peace Building Commission (UNPBC), the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), and the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). All of our 2017 committees will soon be available to explore on this website, and I encourage you to take a look when Background Guides are published this fall!
From now until the conference, NHSMUN staff will work tirelessly to create engaging substantive material and world-class committee experiences. We hope you can join us in what will be the most exceptional NHSMUN yet!
I look forward to seeing you in March!
